“I have introduced you to everyone as Ernest. You answer to the name of Ernest. You look as if your name was Ernest. You are the most earnest looking person I ever saw in my life. It is perfectly absurd your saying that your name isn’t Ernest!”
Dandy Algernon Montcrieff and his friend, the sensible Jack Worthing take on alternative personas in the pursuit of feisty society socialites Gwendolyn Fairfax and Cecily Cardew. But soon the two of them must face the consequences of their double lives as they encounter the formidable Lady Bracknell and a hilarious mystery involving a missing baby, a particularly revolting three volume novel and perhaps the world’s most famous handbag…
Join us as we stage a special “fabulous” performance of Oscar Wilde’s classic “trivial comedy for serious people”. Part staged reading, part parlour game and part soiree, we look forward to welcoming you to a night of “bunburying”, razor sharp wit, and the sparkling banter for which Oscar Wilde has become so well loved. (With a bit of an artistic twist we hope you’ll enjoy – this is probably not the Earnest you remember from school!)
