Coates and Cooper, a female comedy duo bring badly behaved characters Keith and Barry to life using a mix of innovative technology, to reveal the Comedy in a kidnap. The duo combine stand up and comedic performance in this new theatrical blast.

Technology is used in a unique way to bring four characters up close and personal to reveal the comedy in a kidnap. Using a mix between stand up and character comedy the duo tell Keith and Barry’s story using a little help from the audience.

Lauren Coates

Lauren Coates is a stand up comedian and comic actor. She studied Media Production and graduated in 2008 with a first class degree specialising in script and screen writing. Since then Lauren’s enthusiasm and excitement for comedy writing and performance has seen her through to the semi finals of the ‘Funny Woman Awards’ and the ‘Golden Jester Awards’ performing stand up comedy.

One of Lauren’s favourite on screen comedy acting roles was playing ‘Shaz’ in the award winning web series ‘Quirkology’.

Last year Lauren took her first comedy show, which she co-wrote and performed alongside Cooper at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival which they are returning again this year.

Lauren Cooper

Lauren Cooper is a performer, clown, writer and theatre maker. Lauren trained at Rose Bruford College and the Estonian school of music and Theatre gaining a 2:1 degree in European Theatre Arts. She has performed and produced shows in various venues around the UK such as Edinburgh fringe festival at Space venue and Summer Hall.

She has also had experience as a Screen actor in the award winning web series Quirkology. Lauren is interested in immersive and interactive performance. Clowning, sketch and dark/ physical comedy.

Daniel Coates

Daniel Coates – Technical Director

Back in 2014, Daniel decided to take his filmmaking hobby andturn it into a career. Since then, he has created and worked on many short films and ambitious community projects including several with BAFTA nominated writer and director John Hales.

Recently, Daniel has branched out into producing tech for live shows, infusing his filmmaking with the live performances of ‘Coates & Copper’ during their run at the theEdinburgh Fringe festival last year.
